MR NK’S MTC TEST

The MTC testing tests multiplication skills in year four as part of the UK Government’s national multiplication testing. Students in year 4 take a 25-question test every year within a time limit of five minutes. In this way, schools can see how well their students learn and recall multiplication facts.

Online MTC tests students’ knowledge of times tables 2-12 by asking 25 questions. A 3-second rest is given between each question. If you answer the questions within six seconds, there is a 6-second rest between questions. The six, seven, eight, nine, and twelve times tables are often asked about. A random set of questions is generated according to the MTC’s rules.

How to Prepare for MTC test year four testing?

Starting early and practicing the times tables daily is excellent preparation. By practicing regularly, you will gain confidence and learn all the questions. Optimal results are achieved with daily practice of 10 to 15 minutes.

To ensure you have a reasonable knowledge of the times tables, you should create five-step plans for each table. On this page, you should make a sample MTC test to see how you are doing and what you need to improve. Speed tests, diplomas, worksheets, or games like My Smart Horse can help you improve your speed or focus on a few times tables.

You can practice reading and answering multiplication tables on a screen by taking the year 4 Multiplication Tables Check.

What’s the purpose of the MTC?

In the MTC, children are tested on their knowledge of times tables. As a result, children will have the foundational knowledge they need to progress through the school years if they understand all the facts in the multiplication table. Recalling times table facts instantly is essential when performing more complex calculations. More complex math concepts might be difficult for pupils without that knowledge.

Children will also save time by not having to do simple calculations once they know their times tables. Then they will spend time calculating multi-digit calculations after recalling these facts.

How to prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check Practice,

Practice, Practice

Achieving success requires taking these steps, even if it seems obvious.  Consider taking a times table assessment beforehand as part of your preparation. You can expect your class to feel more comfortable during the real thing.  As children complete the assessment, they can see their strengths and shortcomings together and improve.

Explore Patterns

Get a feel for the table by counting in multiples, exploring patterns, and exploring patterns before the check.  In addition to always and sometimes statements, you can also use never statements.  Interacting with a hundred squares is helpful for this. Start by drawing 100 squares.

Become Familiar with Times Tables

In order and out of order, say the multiplication facts. Keep key facts in mind throughout, including:? x 5 and ? x 10.

If your class forgets one of these facts, track forward and backward! There is an important concept called commutativity, which means that adding or multiplying two numbers will give the same answer regardless of their order. This will reduce the number of information children need to memorize before they check if they understand it.

Get Active

Two players and a pair of rackets are all you need for this game.  Every participant hits a ball (real or imaginary) after deciding on a times table. Using the times table, progress up the ball as you hit it.  A mistake is made, and then the counting starts over. You can do this indoors or outdoors with a balloon or tennis ball.

In 2022, a Multiplication Tables Check can be prepared in many ways. Your class will breeze through the test using these resources, ideas, and activities.

How are the Multiplication Tables Check marked?

After three weeks, parents receive their Check results. Results for the test don’t indicate whether the child passes or fails; they simply show how they are doing and whether they need additional support.

Additionally, the results allow schools to adjust how they teach based on the results. No performance table publishes the results, but Ofsted analyzes them.
